How do you manage your diabetes and depression?
Me: 27 years old. Type 1 for for just over 9 years. Still can't seem to get myself together. My bloodsugars range from good to horrendous. I'm depressed for so many different reasons. How do you deal with this day to day?
A-Best: that also depends on the diabetic meds your on that may be contributing to the depression and when you are depressed you eat the wrong thing which throws your bloodsugar out of wack and you need to talk toyour doctor about the depression and how high your blood sugars have been running
A: I don't know what to tell you about your DM. I konw that depression will affect your sugar levels and your body's immune system. Maybe you should go into counseling for your day to day issues. . . So that you can start back feeling good about yourself and your life. What you need to know right now is whatever you're going through right now is not your fault. You need a good friend to lean on.
A: Well, I've been diabetic for seven years, and I was diagnosed with clinical depression about five years ago. I take Zoloft, and it helps take the edge off of my impulses. But, diabetes wise, I'm not very good. I'm barely eighteen, and I just don't care, which I know is really bad. I guess the way I deal from day to day is to take my antidepressants, and plod through things. I need to start testing more... yesterday, my infusion set was bad, and I didn't find out until late. I had moderate ketones and felt like s***.
A: 1) Get your blood sugar under control.
2) Substitute any sweets you have with Stevia drops.
3) Eliminate your intake of coffee - Use a multisource Green Powder which you can get in a health food store
4) Get plenty of excersize and eat vegetables and fruits
5) Know that Type 1 Diabetes is not an incurable disease, but rather a manifestation of a severe immune system response. More research needs to be done on this, but experts have geared towards optimization of all vitamin, amino acids and antioxidants in order to keep the immune response at bay. The mainstream medical community will suggest this is not scientific, but really it is. Much data has been compiled, but you just need to find it on the internet, if your doctor gives you hardship.
Here is a recent answer I received from a nutrition expert I asked:
Reversing diabetes is a simple task really. Take a good diet, avoid alcohol, fried foods, soy products, and all artificial sugars; splenda, sucralose, equal, nutra-sweet, aspartame, acesulfame potassium. To reverse diabetes, good nutrition and immune modulation is all that is needed. These two combined are very successful. Use 'transfer factor glucoach' found here: www.trinity.my4life.com
This product is a natural transfer factor that is specifically targeted to immune related diabetes. It will normalize the auto-immune condition through immune modulation and it will regenerate beta cells.
As for nutrition, there is a fantastic product called 'fruta-vida'. Please take this in conjunction with your transfer factor. The combination is exceptional.
