"I have a 1996 jeep cherokee 2door sport manual trans.., my gas gauge and speed-odmeter stopped working I took t to pep boys they reffered me to the Chrysler dealer ship. They charged me $97 could'nt find anything and wanted to charged me another $170 to continue to try to find the problem. I paid the $97 and got the hell out of the dealership...my pokets were bleeding. Is there any thoughts as to what the problem may be with my Jeep"
A-Best: Don't panic cause a girl's answering...lol
Does your jeep have a navigation sensor on the "roof" near the mirror?
I know...sounds completely unrelated...but I just had the same problem with my jeep a few months ago. Ended up spending almost $400 trying to find the problem and none of the dealerships did. My DAD did!
There was a short in the navigation sensor. All he did to fix it was take one screw out, pull down the navigation box, and put the wires back together. No problems with it since! I swear!
The dealers thought it was a key switch problem, so if the navigation sensor doesn't seem to work, have that checked out. :) GOOD LUCK!
