Question:

I'm moving to Portland OR in late Dec beging of Jan and plan on driving there from Chicago I 80 to I 85?
I have drove this route before in Dec and it got pretty bad coming into the state of OR is there any ideas or suggestions to make my trip a little easier and safer?

A-Best: Take I-57 South to I-70 West to I-15 North to I-84 West right into Portland. I-70 is a better bet than I-80 through the Rockies.  

A: Bring chains.Take your time not the best time year to go.I moved up from california to washington in jan 06 was slow going.
