Me 97 pounds ready for Freshman football?(tackle)?
My School currently has flag football and i joined as a 8th grader and my season went horrible. I first spraint my ankle and then i broke and disloacated my pinky finger. I was out for most of the season and just mainly watched the game. After this 8th grade year i want to play a wide reciever for our high school freshman team. I weigh only about 97 pounds but i dont know if im ready for tackle. i cant tolerate quite a bit of pain. Should i join freshman football only weighing 98 pounds?
A-Best: Join the team...Just don't worry about being played too often until you can gain weight.
This has some great benefits. If you join the team you are in a better position with the coaches than if you waited and joined when you are bigger. Show to them that you are willing to work hard to get where you need to be. I am a HS Dline coach and make my roster and depth chart decisions based on practice, and who is working the hardest. They are the guys that are going to work the hardest when they are out on the field.
You will also gain the benefit of working out with the team. They can help you put on good lbs better than any body else out there, unless you can afford a personal trainer. The best way to become better is to join and let the coaches mold you into the player they most need or want.
Again just be open to what they tell you and don't be afraid to sit the bench for a little while.
A: Sorry buddy, they would kill you out there
A: I dont think its a good idea, i weighed 95 pounds and i played freshmen football, they guys are just to big. Plus if you dont want to get benched, dont tryout. I think your to small just like i was. I broke my shoulder in practice, its never been the same
A: You'd have to get up to about 115-125 to play freshman football. Otherwise you'd get murdered out there.
A: no gain weight, gain weight, gain weight!!! if you want to be a tackle you'll have to put on a considerable amount of weigh, like an unhealthy amount of weight (its only unhealthy because of how quickly you'd have to do it) if you want to do wide reciever set a target weight for 150 lbs just about a 50 pound gain, but don't let that be fat your gaining, make it hard core muscle and stuff
A: You should gain weight, but you can do it. Most Freshmen aren't that big. I was 6'1" my Freshman year and 360 pounds, but that doesn't happen often.
A: 98 lbs is a bit small to play tackle, even at the freshman level. When it comes to offensive lineman, size does matter, im afraid. however, i'm almost certain that your coach will have the team in the weight room at least 2 days a week, which should help you put on some size. but at your size, i think wide reciever, defensive back, or running back would be the spot for you. maybe even outside linebacker if you're willing to stick your nose in and knock some people around.
A: actually if you cant tolerate pain then you really shouldnt even play at all because your going to get hurt that is a proven fact no matter what and if you even want a chance at getting on the team or starting your going to need to but your body out for the team
A: well first of all how can you weigh 97 pounds in the first place...wow..i wished that i weighed that much...
and if you got hurt that much just playing flag football....idk.
i would suggest not.
unless you know...you gain weigh massively and you think you can do it, then go for it...
have confidence!
A: Well in your question you said you want to play wide out, and I think that might be ur best bet.
Because if you tried to play tackle they would literally throw you around one-handed.
Even if youre going to play wideout, you need to gain some serious weight and muscle.
So I say work on it from now until the season, and if youre not 130lbs or more, I say wait until sophomore year.
A: you could join but you will get popped really fast
i think you should go to the gym to gain a little more and get more muscle and since you wanna be a wide reciever you have to be ready for those tackles
you could try it like this but im warning you your gonna get hurt
