if i my coach pitches me 85 pitches and i start ever other game which is thursday and saturday is that to much?
i am only 12 years old
A-Best: No, assuming 85 is the maximum amount you would throw in a game.
If you are pitching every other game and have only two scheduled games a week, you only pitch once a week and throw no more than 85 pitches in a week.
Extensive medical research was done to determine the pitch count rules set by Little League baseball. For 11-12 year-olds, that limit is safely set, with doctors approval, at 85. Anytime more than 75 pitches are thrown, a rest period of 3 days, should be observed. It sounds like you will have 6 days rest between starts.
However, if you pitched Thursday, and threw more than 40 pitches, you should not pitch at all on Saturday.
There is also a recommendation that after pitching in a game, the player not play catcher in the same game.
A: no your fine. you have to figure 5 max pitches for 9 batters. times 3
A: Way to many pitches for a 12year old. This guy should not be coaching
Check with your league. Almost all youth leagues have limits on how many days rest, after so many innings or how many pitches a pitcher can throw.
And don't you dare throw curve balls until you're in HS. A well placed straight change is just as effective!
A: your arm is gonna be toast by the time you reach high school ball.
A: Way to much man.
You need to save your arm for what matters, collage and high school. Im not saying you should not pitch, just not to that intensity.
You should talk to your coach.
A: Depends how old you are if u are below 17 it is bad, above it is not the best but it won't hurt anything tell him to not pitch u 3day After u last pitched
A: That is far too much. You really shouldn't be throwing much over 60 pitches at the age of 12. Throwing two games back to back that are that close is just ignorant.
Tell your coach that you are being used too much and you should not be throwing that much. Tell your parents if necessary.
A: thats 2 much - ok 2 play 40 - 50 pitches each game - take care of ur arm - ur coach is suppose 2 have guidelines - we do in football
