Serpentine belt makes noise?
The belt on the side of the engine, I guess is serpentine, makes a noise, is this ok? I spray some stuff on it in a certain part and it will stop for a while. Will belt break anytime soon or a pully? Belt looks ok to me. 97 Chevrolet Cavalier. Thanks!
A-Best: these belts need replacement every 100k.
maybe you need to have it inspected.
A: that belt grip/dressing will only eventually wear your pulleys and bearings. find your squeak in that certain spot and fix it.hey a handy way to locate the noise is to use your old siphon hose.put it to your ear and carefully probe around the belt track with the free end of the hose. use your head, dont try to hold the end of the hose, keep your hands out. youll zero in on the sound just like ma bell.
A: Look down into the inside groves of Belt is that area Shiny? and look at the Tensioner; You will see ether an Arm with Slot or two ridges; the arm should not be against ridge or if slot;It is outside of metal ridge? if Yes;Belt is worn beyond Limits, that is a 45 Min Job for arm assy; and belt 65 Dollars belt and Tensioner assy.
A: it,s not suppose to make any noise at all. if it is then it,s almost worn out.
